Worship

We get so immersed in our daily routine that we almost forget what our primary purpose on earth is.

Being occupied, “doing” something in life is important. You cannot simply sit idle all day and expect things to get done. Continually achieving something is a part of life. That’s how stuff works. Of course an individual cannot be “busy” all day. Because we are merely human and our capacity to work is limited. That’s why Allah created the night, so we get the rest our body and mind requires.

But worldly occupations cannot be used as an excuse to ignore the spiritual aspects of life. Our soul is just like our body with needs that must be fulfilled.

So what are the basic requirements of our soul?

The most important thing necessary for the nourishment of our soul is WORSHIP. Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’aala says in the Qur’an:

“…Verily, in the remembrance of Allah do hearts find rest.” [The Qur’an 13:28]

It’s extremely important to worship Allah. In fact this is the reason we were created in the first place.

Keeping our intentions clean, our thoughts pure and our hearts free of ill feelings are other things that help in increasing and maintaining our spirituality.

No matter how occupied we are in worldly activities we should never forget to devote some time to remember the One who created us, sustains us, protects us and who has shown us the correct path. Our Creator the Almighty Allah ‘Azza wa Jal is the only one worthy of worship.

The five daily prayers (Salah) have been made obligatory so that we do not leave out this important aspect from our lives.
